Because no two children are alike, we treat each child as an individual. Each is placed in a level or form that corresponds with his or her abilities, not a grade that corresponds with his or her age. This helps ensure the student is learning, not just moving forward because of age. A form is made up of courses in reading, writing, arithmetic, etc., all at the student's own level. When the requirements for that form are mastered, the student moves on to the next form.
More importantly, Ability School utilizes and teaches the study methods developed by author and humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard, called Study Technology. Through research and developments, Mr. Hubbard went further than just documenting barriers to learning, he pinpointed and codified the exact cause of barriers in learning and developed the remedies for a student of any age. The result is a student who has the skills and tools to overcome barriers in learning and so acquire not only knowledge of a subject, but mastery with the ability to apply their materials-not just memorize them to pass tests.
At the end of each course, a student is tested for comprehension and application. While it's quite common for students to pass with 100%, anything less requires the student to restudy the missed or misunderstood materials until he or she has certainty and confidence on the subject. |
